Ohio four-piece Heartless Bastards have been churning out gritty rock and roll for over a decade. Led by singer and guitarist Erika Wennerstrom, the band crafts blues- and garage-inflected tunes that sound as appropriate in a sweaty club as they do on a big, open stage. Their most recent effort, Restless Ones, produced by indie luminary John Congleton, displays the band’s near mastery of all things roots-related; Wennerstrom’s mighty voice soars over guitar twang and piano stomp alike. Up-and-coming Charleston, SC group Susto dusts off the Georgia Theatre stage first.
