Karl Blau. Where to even start? The prolific songwriter and producer has tied his name to a number of projects since the mid-’90s, including Pacific Northwest indie powerhouse K Records, the Microphones and over three dozen of his own recordings. His most recent release, this year’s Introducing Karl Blau, is a covers album over 10 years in the making, recorded with producer Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists). It’s a beautiful “cosmic country” take on tunes by Townes Van Zandt, the Bee Gees and more, which is to say there’s exquisitely lush instrumentation and little mention of pickup trucks or miniskirts. Olympia, WA indie-pop group Lake, which shares ties to Blau, and local standouts Wanda open this show.
